Opened in 1983 as a four bedroom guesthouse by proprietors Mary and Dick Fitzgerald, the Fitzgerald's Woodlands House Hotel Adare has now grown into one of the region's leading leisure, wedding and conference venues, with 94 bedrooms offering hotel accommodation in Adare. The Woodlands House Hotel Adare has aproximately 155 employees.

Mary and Dick are parents of four, and grandparents of three. Today, the business remains very much a family affair - with sons David working as General Manager of this Adare hotel and Conor as Development Manager for the Fitzgerald Group. Youngest son Richard, is also in the food  business with his Irish Food Store & Deli, LOAF located on 57 Roches Street Limerick. Daughter Elaina, works as Sales Director, and is married to Myles, propreitor of Kane Fitz Interiors, which has recently relocated from Ennis to the grounds of this hotel in Adare.

Kane Fitz Interiors offers an exceptional range of furniture, sofas made for you, rugs, mirrors, lamps, paintings, bedding and candles. Contract Furniture and House Kit Outs are a speciality.

Family portraits including wedding portraits featuring the wedding party surrounded by staff on the steps of this hotel in Limerick, hang in the foyer, signifying the importance of family and extending a welcome "from our family to yours". Dick Fitzgerald could almost be regarded as PR man for the hotel, as he can usually be found behind the bar, or outside it, talking to regular local customers from Adare and guests alike, discussing GAA, rugby and horses. He might even have a tip or two to pass on! Dick provides an important, hands on service and he has great knowledge of the local area and it's amenities.

The most recent development to the Woodlands Luxury Hotel in Limerick Ireland is the stunning new development that is the home to revas spa, owned and managed by David's wife, Orla O' Gorman Fitzgerald.

A second hotel was established by the Fitzgerald family in conjunction with Michael Magner in Glanmire, Co. Cork in 2006.
